The Campaign for the Billboard of “Father Ly’s Muted Mouth.”
Father Nguyen Van Ly and his associates on March 30, 2007 were sentenced from 5 to 8 years in prison by the VietNamese Communist Government. At the trial, Father Ly shouted "Down with Communism," during which time his mouth was physically muted by the attending court’s bailiff. Throughout the trial the Father and his associates repeatedly denied government’s alleged crime. At the same time they resolutely maintained their conviction to fight for a more democratic Vietnam. Please speak for him by promoting the campaign for the Billboard of “Father Ly’s Muted Mouth.”

Phoenix, Arizona - On Nov 7, 2007, the first billboard of Father Ly's Muted Mouth was displayed in Phoenix, Arizona. The Committee For Development of Human Rights and Democracy in Vietnam, a group formed by the Vietnamese-American Community in Arizona, has helped to put up this billboard.

The picture of Father Nguyen Van Ly whose mouth was forcefully gagged during the court session on March 30, 2007, which is later known as "THE SCREAM FOR JUSTICE OF A GAGGED MOUTH" has been distributed and has caused concern and outrage worldwide.

In the face of such blatant disregard for Human Dignity as well as Human Rights by the Vietnamese Communist Regime, the Overseas Vietnamese in the United States and in other free countries have distributed these infamous pictures in the forms of flyers and billboards in order to raise the awareness of this injustice to the peoples of their communities.

To help the local residents understand the injustice that's being done to our people, as well as to show our unity with and support for their struggle to bring about Human Rights and Democracy, the Vietnamese-American Community in Arizona, a non-profit organization, will be showing a billboard "THE SCREAM FOR JUSTICE OF A GAGGED MOUTH" below on the two main locations in Phoenix: N.16th Street and Indian School Rd.
