Although the weather was not very cooperative, The Vietnamese community turned out to listen to guest speakers. Shouts of "Down the Vietnamese Communist," and demands for freedom, democracy and human rights in Vietnam were voiced.

In the event of APEC 2007 Meeting, on Saturday, Sept 8, 2007, at Noon in Belmore Park, center of Sydney, thousands of Vietnamese from Sydney and other cities gathered to demonstrate for freedom, democracy and human rights in Vietnam.

Presented in this special demonstration were different communities from Tibet, Burma, China...It was a very peacefully demonstration with the international organizations and groups such as The International Committee for Human Rights.

Among the Vietnamese representatives for all states, groups, parties, religious, also presented were Mr. Vo Dai Ton and two guests who arrived from the US, Messes. Ly Tong and Nguyen Chi Thien, a political intelligentsia.

The Venerable Thich Quang Do and Mr. Ly Tong encouraged the Vietnamese demonstrators to buy the CDs (published by Mr. Ly Tong) for a fund-raising purpose.  The total sum collected was Australia dollar $4,070. The amount was presented to Dr. Nguyen Manh Tien, a representative of Vietnamese Communities For Freedom, to be forwarded to Buddhist organization in Vietnam.

The demonstration ended at 2.50PM.
